Thumbelina
This is a scene from the Thumbelina story were she was being kidnapped by the ugly toads while sleeping. I am using Winsor and Newton Watercolour Paper and it's quite a big size, I have to check the exact size again but it's way bigger than A3. I did this pencil drawing a few years ago then I never had the chance to ink or color it. It ended up in my box of "drawings for future coloring". I think I drew the pencil sketch around 2009, if I am not mistaken. And, yes! It took four years for me to work on it again. So last night, I unearthed it from its hiding place and decided to ink the whole thing. My initial plan was to use watercolour and not bother with the ink but in the back of my head a little voice was screaming for Ink! So there I've inked it using Black India Ink and a nib pen. Now, I just need to figure out what color scheme to use and when to start coloring it.

i always love seeing what you are creating!
ReplyDeletemagic for sure ~
I'm liking this, looking forward to seeing the finished piece!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I am sure it will be great in colour but the drawing is so strong it is going to work so well as a stand alone pen and ink. Maybe you should do two versions?
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying my visit to your blog!
This piece is really lovely! I agree that you could have two different versions both pen and ink and color. Either way, it's beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

ReplyDeleteHello Autumn! Really crossing my fingers I get to finish this one, soon! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Acornmoon/Valerie! I am overjoyed you found my page :) I would definitely follow your advice, a black and white illustration would be good, plus I could add more details with ink. Good thing I have scanned the piece, I would save it for the colored version. Thank you so much and again Welcome to the patch!! :D
