Pool of Sorrow

This illustration was inspired when a terrible typhoon hit Manila, Philippines a few years back. I was in Dubai during that time and was extremely saddened with what happened. I decided to draw a lonely faerie and this is what I came up with. But a lily blooms amidst the sorrow which signifies hope.

I am using watercolour at the moment and am slowly building up the colours. I may decide to use ink at the end though.

Here's the latest stage of the painting.

Thumbelina

This is a scene from the Thumbelina story were she was being kidnapped by the ugly toads while sleeping.  I am using Winsor and Newton Watercolour Paper and it's quite a big size, I have to check the exact size again but it's way bigger than A3.  I did this pencil drawing a few years ago then I never had the chance to ink or color it. It ended up in my box of "drawings for future coloring". I think I drew the pencil sketch around 2009, if I am not mistaken. And, yes! It took four years for me to work on it again. So last night, I unearthed it from its hiding place and decided to ink the whole thing. My initial plan was to use watercolour and not bother with the ink but in the back of my head a little voice was screaming for Ink! So there I've inked it using Black India Ink and a nib pen.  Now, I just need to figure out what color scheme to use and when to start coloring it.

A Merfolk

It's been a decade since the last time I've illustrated a mermaid. And yesterday a friend requested if I could draw one. I made a quick sketch but when I got home I decided to make a big one, A3 Bristol Paper, and within an hour I finished this one.  I enjoyed illustrating this creature, I think I'll be making more.
